Membership Requirements

The Association offers three categories of membership. Each carries distinct eligibility criteria, rights, and privileges as set out below.

Article 3

Regular Member

Eligibility

  • Nigerian (by descent, birth, adoption, naturalisation or marriage)
  • Aged 18 years or above at the date of application
  • Resides in the United Kingdom

Application Requirements

  • Written application in the prescribed form
  • Supported by at least one regular member in good standing
  • References as determined by the Executive Committee
  • Non-refundable membership fee

Rights & Privileges

  • Participate in all activities and events
  • Exercise the right to vote
  • Be nominated to elective office or committee positions
Most Common

Article 4

Associate Member

Eligibility

  • Nigerian with family or other ties in the UK, spending less than 3 months per year in the UK
  • Or: shares the Association's mission and has contributed in an outstanding manner
  • Must be sponsored by regular members

Application Requirements

  • Written application in the prescribed form
  • Letter of recommendation from at least two regular members in good standing
  • References as determined by the Executive Committee
  • Non-refundable membership fee for Associate members

Rights & Privileges

  • Participate in all activities and events
  • Exercise the right to vote
  • Be nominated to a committee established by the Executive Committee

Note: Not eligible for nomination to any elective office or appointment to any office of the Executive Committee.

Article 5

Corporate Member

Eligibility

  • Demonstrates alignment with the mission, vision and objectives of the Association
  • Has made an outstanding contribution to the Association, or is likely to provide exceptional support
  • Must be sponsored by regular members

Application Requirements

  • Written application form
  • Letter of recommendation from at least two regular members in good standing
  • References as determined by the Executive Committee
  • Non-refundable membership fee as determined by the Executive Committee

Rights & Privileges

  • Participate in all activities and events
  • Exercise the right to vote

Note: Not eligible for nomination to any elective office or appointment to any office of the Executive Committee.

All membership applications are reviewed and approved at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee, which reserves the right to accept or reject any application without obligation to provide reasons.
